Scammed into a Bank Transfer: What to Do First

AI-generated fictional scene: Scammed into a Bank Transfer: What to Do First

General legal information, not advice for a specific case. Check current law and the facts of your situation before acting.

If you realise you have transferred money to a scammer, stop sending anything else. I’m Attorney Nok, and I suggest calling your bank using its official number immediately and contacting Thailand’s AOC at 1441 to follow the transaction-freeze process. Speed may help, but recovery is never guaranteed.

Suppose you pay a deposit through a chat link and the seller then asks for another “refund release fee.” Do not pay it. Save the transfer receipt, recipient account, listing URL, chat history, and exact times. Write down when and where you reported the incident.

Report the matter to the police and follow official guidance on next steps. Someone claiming to be an officer may still be a scammer; never share passwords or OTPs.
